There’s an undeniable magic that comes with combining good food, great company, and the right vehicle — and Ford Philippines masterfully brought these elements together in a memorable adventure at Asador Alfonso. What started as a media drive quickly turned into a celebration of lifestyle, culinary artistry, and the versatility of the Ford Territory, one of their most popular models.

Tucked away in the tranquil town of Alfonso, Cavite, Asador Alfonso is a hidden gem that perfectly embodies luxury and craftsmanship. This Spanish fine dining destination was created by renowned chef Chele Gonzalez and visionary architect Carlo Calma, set within a sprawling 9.4-hectare estate that’s as much a visual spectacle as it is a culinary haven. Calma’s contemporary design combines simplicity and elegance, a tribute initially inspired by personal roots during the pandemic, which has now become a lifestyle space where modern architecture and gourmet dining coexist seamlessly.

Chef Chele’s menu is a tribute to his Spanish heritage, emphasizing traditional roasting techniques that lend authenticity and depth to each dish. The name “Asador,” meaning “roaster” in Spanish, hints at the soul of the restaurant’s cuisine. The day’s journey began with breakfast at Seda Manila Bay, followed by a leisurely two-hour drive to Alfonso—a trip punctuated by tests of the Ford Territory’s features, from its various driving modes and spacious interior to its smart tech offerings. Powered by an efficient EcoBoost 1.5L engine, the SUV proved capable, comfortable, and eager to showcase its versatility. Truth be told, we’ve driven the Territory before, so I was happy to leave the driving to our carmates to better enjoy the drive.

Upon arrival, the adventure got spicy — or rather, savory. Based on our car assignments, nine teams participated in a friendly culinary showdown, each tasked with crafting their best version of ceviche under the guidance of Chef Rodrigo Osorio. With just 45 minutes, it was a race against time, creativity, and flavor. Our team, who confidently stuck to the flavors we knew best, managed to clinch the win — an exciting highlight amid the day’s many pleasures.

The feast that followed was nothing short of a sensory symphony. Over twelve courses, every palate was awakened and delighted. It all started with a refreshing octopus salad dressed in sherry vinegar, complemented by creamy prawn and potato mousseline, boquerón toast drizzled with EVOO and parsley, and crispy jamón ibérico croquettes. Mains included a comforting chicken truffle lasagna baked in rich béchamel, rustic mushroom rice stew, grilled whole grouper swimming in garlic potatoes and collagen emulsion, and a vibrant vegetable platter.

For ultimate satisfaction, guests enjoyed a wood-fired roast beef marinated with fresh herbs and mustard seeds, perfectly paired with decadent desserts—vanilla flan, chocolate mousse with crumble and marmalade, and fresh mango with Chantilly cream. Each course offered a new discovery, proof of Chef Rodrigo’s mastery and the restaurant’s dedication to quality.

After our hearty meal, the experience shifted to the garden, where Chef Rodrigo took us on a tour of the grounds. He showed us the garden they just started cultivating and told us of their plans to eventually serve the produce they grow. The more adventurous of the group joined him inside the animal enclosures, where they kept various sheep and goats.

The return trip in the Ford Territory was equally smooth. This SUV, designed for dynamic lifestyles, combined safety, comfort, and style. Its modern exterior, larger 12-inch touchscreen, wireless tech features, panoramic moonroof, and spacious interior enhanced every moment of the journey. Its robust yet responsive 1.5L EcoBoost engine, combined with advanced safety features like Active Park Assist and a 360-degree camera, made every mile feel secure and pleasurable.

“The Ford Territory is a level-up SUV that complements the passions and interests of our customers with its modern design, spacious interiors, and smart and safe features that will let them make their personal and professional pursuits possible,” shares EJ Francisco, Communications Director, Ford Philippines. “Heading to your next culinary destination like Asador Alfonso requires getting there without hassle. The Ford Territory ensures that no matter the distance, passengers will experience a safe, comfortable, and relaxing drive with its segment-leading features and capabilities.”

That day at Alfonso proved that beyond savoring exquisite dishes, it’s the experiences, camaraderie, and the right vehicle that truly make a winning combination. And with Ford Territory, every journey promises to be just as rewarding as the destination itself.
