The Municipality of Noveleta in Cavite has begun using VinFast VF 3 electric vehicles for police patrols. The move is part of a push for cleaner, more modern municipal services. Noveleta is the first municipality in the CALABARZON region to adopt formal EV mobility goals for public service.
The initial batch came through VinFast Marikina and Xentro. These VF 3s will support routine patrols and other municipal duties. Officials cited lower fuel consumption and reduced operating costs as key reasons for the switch.
The VF 3 was originally aimed at school runs, grocery trips and city commutes. Its compact size now suits many public-service tasks. The car measures 3,190 mm long, 1,679 mm wide and 1,652 mm high. That small footprint makes it easy to navigate crowded streets and narrow lanes. It also fits into tight parking spots near markets and civic centers.
Despite the compact body, the VF 3 rides on 16-inch wheels. It offers 175 mm of ground clearance. That gives it an SUV-like stance for rougher patches of road. The stance helps officers reach places where larger patrol cars may struggle.
Range and charging matter to fleet managers. The VF 3 can travel up to 215 kilometers on a full charge. That covers several days of typical urban patrol work in many zones. When faster charging is needed, DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 70% in about 36 minutes. Shorter charge times mean more patrol time on the road. Noveleta’s deployment makes a practical argument for small EVs in municipal fleets. The benefits include lower lifecycle costs, fewer emissions and better maneuverability in dense areas. The town plans to add more VF 3 units as it scales its electric mobility program.
