Inchcape Philippines and Changan to End Distribution Tie-up

Partnership won’t be renewed as Changan pursues its own Philippine strategy; Inchcape pledges continued customer support and to focus on existing brands

Inchcape Philippines and Chinese automaker Changan have mutually agreed not to renew their distribution partnership in the Philippines, the companies confirmed today, setting a transition period that will extend through the fourth quarter of 2026.

The move comes as Changan advances its long-term plans for the local market. While details about Changan’s next steps were not disclosed, both parties said the change is orderly and customer commitments will remain in place during the handover.

Existing obligations — including aftersales, warranty, parts and service support — will continue to be honored throughout the transition period, the statement said, aiming to reassure current Changan owners and dealer partners.

“Since 2023, Inchcape Philippines and Changan have worked together to build the Changan brand in the Philippines, supported by Inchcape’s local expertise, distribution capabilities and dealer network,” Alex Hammett, Managing Director, South Asia & Pacific, Inchcape, said.

“We are committed to supporting our customers, colleagues, dealers and business partners through this transition, and I would like to thank our team at Inchcape Philippines and our dealer partners for their valuable contribution to building and supporting the Changan brand in the Philippines over the past three years,” Hammett added.

Inchcape also used the announcement to reiterate its continued focus on other marques in its Philippine portfolio. “The Philippines remains an important market for Inchcape, with the company continuing to distribute Mercedes‑Benz passenger cars, trucks and buses, as well as Jaguar Land Rover, and operating the retail business of Harley‑Davidson. Inchcape’s focus is on continuing to grow our existing portfolio and bringing new products to our customers in the Philippines,” Hammett said.

Inchcape Philippines is a joint venture between Inchcape plc and the CATS Group of Companies. The local arm combines international distribution experience with regional know-how and operates across Greenhills (San Juan City) and Pasig City. The country is also home to Inchcape’s Digital Delivery Centre and Global Business Services teams, which together employ more than 700 staff and support the group’s global operations.

Inchcape plc, headquartered in London, is one of the world’s largest automotive distributors and employs more than 16,000 people worldwide.

The companies said further information on post-transition arrangements will be communicated once those plans are finalized. In the meantime, customers and dealer partners can expect continued service and warranty support through Q4 2026 as the transition proceeds.
