Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) officially announces the appointment of Mr. Byung Goo Ko as its new President, effective today, July 27, 2026.

Mr. Byung Goo Ko succeeds Mr. Jiho Son, whose tenure focused on expanding HMPH’s dealer network and model lineup. Following four years of continued expansion from previous leadership, Mr. Ko is expected to spearhead the brand into its next phase of sustained growth.

“The Philippines has always been a valued market for us at Hyundai Motor Company, and we see so much potential for growth,” expressed Mr. Ko. “With a constantly changing automotive landscape, it’s now more important than ever to strengthen our brand presence and to inspire consumer confidence.”

Mr. Ko brings over two decades of experience at Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), spanning different roles that include international market development, sales operations, and global business strategy. Throughout his career, he has held various strategic roles in Asia Pacific, Europe, India, and the Middle East, which has contributed greatly to the brand’s global expansion.

“We gladly welcome Mr. Ko to Hyundai Motor Philippines. He is a seasoned figure in the automotive industry with extensive experience across all business operations. With him at the helm, HMPH looks forward to building on its momentum and pursuing new opportunities in the years ahead,” said Mr. Cecil Capacete, HMPH Managing Director.

Under Mr. Ko’s leadership, HMPH remains firm in its commitment to continue innovating the car ownership experience and providing mobility solutions for customers nationwide.
