In a lively weekend-long celebration marking its third anniversary, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) unveiled the highly anticipated all-new KONA Hybrid, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and versatility in the Philippine automotive market. The KONA joins HMPH’s hybrid line following the variant introductions of the SANTA FE, TUCSON, and ELANTRA.
The event, held at the vibrant Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater in BGC, Taguig City, was a weekend packed with music, fun, and exciting showcases, including a mini-concert featuring Lola Amour, Sam Concepcion, and Hyundai ambassador Sarah Geronimo, along with the Hyundai Mobility Experience display.
The Return of the KONA
The iconic KONA nameplate made its global debut in Seoul in 2017 and arrived in the Philippines in 2018, quickly earning accolades worldwide for its design and performance. Its return to the local market signals Hyundai’s dedication to offering diverse options suited for Filipino drivers’ active lifestyles and evolving preferences.
The new KONA sports a sleek, futuristic exterior with aerodynamic lines, highlighted by Hyundai’s signature LED horizon lamp and intricate 3D front bumper garnishes. The Hybrid Premium variant stands out further with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, rugged wheel arch cladding, a power sunroof, and roof rails—making a bold statement on the road.
Under the hood, the KONA Hybrid packs a punch with a 1.6-liter hybrid engine combined with a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, delivering 141 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. Smart regenerative braking and e-Motion Drive technology ensure smooth and efficient performance, aligning with Hyundai’s focus on eco-friendly mobility.
Inside, the KONA’s cabin is a modern “living space,” offering a driver-centric cockpit with a 12.3-inch floating dual panoramic instrument cluster and infotainment display. Connectivity is seamless with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while convenience features such as a wireless charging pad with cooling fan, rotating cup holders, and fold-flat second-row seats enhance versatility. The Smart Power Tailgate, customizable for height, adds a personalized touch for convenience.

The all-new KONA is available in two hybrid variants: the 1.6 HEV GLS 6DCT has an SRP of P1,528,000.00, while the 1.6 HEV Premium 6DCT top trim is priced at P1,688,000.00. Available body colors include Neoteric Yellow, Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Cyber Gray, and Meta Blue Pearl. All units come with a 5-year or 200,000-kilometer (whichever comes first) bumper-to-bumper warranty and an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer high-voltage battery warranty.
