Hertz Philippines, operated by Exclusive Cars International Holdings Inc., recently signed up for Shell Fleet Solutions (SFS) Philippines’ Accelerate to Zero (A2Z) Program to help them achieve their net-zero carbon emissions target. The partnership was formalized in a signing ceremony led by Veethara Trakulboon, General Manager, Shell Fleet Solutions Asia; Christopher Alli, Country Business Manager, Shell Fleet Solutions Philippines; and Rene Limcaoco, Managing Director, Hertz Philippines.
“Decarbonization is an important issue facing our customers today and in the future,” Alli said of the issue that needs to be addressed by industries, including energy. “Shell Fleet Solutions is here as a partner to provide a comprehensive strategy for the rapid decarbonization of fleets. A2Z is also designed to help customers achieve their decarbonization targets.”
Limcaoco expressed his confidence in the two companies’ joint decarbonization mission, saying, “We are on the right track with Shell, with the same commitment to this goal. We are equally passionate about exploring mobility solutions to reduce our carbon footprint.”
The Accelerate to Zero Program will give Hertz Philippines access to Shell Fleet Solutions’ sustainability offers that will help them reduce their carbon emissions through tracking fuel efficiency and compensate for unavoidable ones through the voluntary carbon offset program. Through the A2Z Program, Hertz Philippines will be provided with tools to understand its carbon emissions, and with technology solutions that will both reduce and offset its carbon emissions.
This includes Application Programming Interface (API) and, soon, Telematics which will provide their customers with the business intelligence needed to increase business efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in alignment with Shell’s Powering Progress strategy for net-zero emissions by 2050.
Hertz Philippines started their A2Z journey with voluntary carbon offsetting which helps them compensate for their fleet’s carbon emissions. The emissions are compensated by carbon credits and purchased by Shell for Hertz Philippines from a global portfolio of approved projects. Shell will issue a yearly retirement certification confirming that the fuel’s emissions have been compensated. Charges are applied seamlessly to Hertz’s account and they can continue to use their Shell Card to refuel. This certificate and process are externally verified and audited by a credible 3rd party company.
