Peugeot Philippines begins 2022 by officially introducing its new distributor – Astara.
Formerly known as Bergé Auto, Astara is one of the biggest automotive distributors in Europe and Latin America. Since its inception in 1979, the company is instrumental in the selling of over three million cars as the strategic partner of the world’s leading automotive groups.
Astara currently offers a range of products and services focused on mobility, such as ownership, subscription, B2B and B2C, and new channels. These are supported by a self-developed digital platform, which allows interaction with customers throughout the different steps in their journey.
Peugeot Philippines’ takeover marks the partnership of Astara and Stellantis, one of the leading global automakers where the Peugeot brand is housed. It also ushers in Astara’s expansion in Asia, starting in the Philippines, as it has seen much potential in the market with the local automotive industry slowly recovering.
“Having just celebrated our tenth anniversary in the Philippines, we are energized to continue building our momentum in the country through our great vehicles and after-sales service offerings with Astara as our partner,” said Peugeot Philippines Brand Head Maricar Parco.
In the immediate pipeline of the brand is the introduction of four new vehicles starting with the new Peugeot 5008 SUV which is now available in the Peugeot showrooms.
New 5008 SUV
The Peugeot 5008 SUV is the brand’s premium seven-seater SUV. Its upgraded features include a frameless radiator grille, full-LED headlights with “illuminated fangs” daytime running lights, a sleek, raised body design, a chrome detail that extends from the headlights to its rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as the new-generation Peugeot i-Cockpit.
The SUV is powered by the latest generation 1.6L Twin Scroll Turbo High Pressure (THP) engine that is paired with a 6-speed Automatic Transmission. The combination promises maximum output of 165hp and 240Nm of torque.
Unlike previous models that were sourced from Europe, the new Peugeot 5008 SUV is assembled at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Gurun, Malaysia.
The new Peugeot 2008 SUV is available in Emerald Crystal, Nera Black, Pearl White, and Amazonite Grey, and is priced at Php 2,260,000.
More dealerships
Aside from its existing 4 dealerships, Peugeot Philippines aims to open seven more dealerships by the end of 2022. The company’s digital footprint is also set to benefit from Astara’s global expertise with the implementation of its digitization by the second quarter of this year.
“Astara will bring to the Philippines its strong expertise in strategy implementation and a wealth of cross-market experience to realize the potential of Peugeot in the Philippines,” said Stellantis Senior Vice President for ASEAN and General Distributors Christophe Musy.
“Our investment will help infuse a renewed sense of vigor for Peugeot Philippines and its patrons, creating a more purposeful brand that resonates to the Philippine market,” Peugeot Philippines Managing Director Raoul Picello said. “We hope that, as we move forward and grow together, these exciting changes can help us meet the ever-changing needs of Filipinos.”
