Since the Ayala Corporation acquired the distributorship of the Kia brand late in 2018, they have held many unboxing events to showcase their latest offerings. The latest of these unboxings is the not-so-secret launching of the 2021 Kia Stonic subcompact crossover.
While the brand is targeting the young and the active, the Stonic’s bold and stylish looks will surely create waves in the local automotive scene. According to Kia’s chief designer Peter Schreyer, the European Design Language is manifested in the compact features, elegant design, sharp lines, and smooth surfaces, which harmonizes with the signature Tiger Nose Grille and the stylish and heavy-duty roof rails at the top of the unit.
The well-positioned projector headlamps and LED Daytime Running Lights (exclusive to the EX variant) in the front fascia give proper illumination to your peripherals, without distracting incoming drivers. The perfectly-sized Stonic is 4,100mm long, 1,735mm wide, and 1,532mm high with a 2,570 wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 185mm. To give you a better idea of its size, the Stonic sits in between the Kia Rio and the recently launched Kia Seltos. Storage space is 325 liters which expands drastically with the 60:40 full-fold flat rear seats. Entertainment is courtesy of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system—compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Stonic is powered by a 1.4 dual CVVT engine mated with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The powerplant delivers a maximum of 93.7hp for the manual option and 98.6hp for the automatic. The result of this engine-transmission pairing yields to a higher fuel efficiency rating.
Safety features include a rear parking sensor, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, electronic stability control, and hill start assist (all exclusive for the EX variant), and comes with smart entry as well as a push start button.
As of launch time, all the three variants of the Stonic shall be priced below 1 million Pesos with the following pre-launch Introductory prices for reservations made until October 15, 2020:
