The Liveable Cities Challenge (LCC) and Dassault Systèmes in partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines and Globe Telecom, with the support of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines, is hosting another webinar that aims to equip cities with knowledge and insights for designing better solutions for their communities through the sharing of best practices.
For its eighth webinar this year, LCC Lab dubbed “Mobility: Building an E-vehicle Ecosystem,” will focus on the potential and benefits of e-vehicles as an alternative mode of transport in cities. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 3 to 5 in the afternoon.
With the rapid advancement of technology and the need for more environment-friendly solutions given the utmost priority amid climate change, the future of having more e-vehicles on the road is a worthy alternative to traditional modes of transportation. The webinar hopes to answer what it will take to build a thriving ecosystem for e-vehicles in the country and how to overcome the many challenges — such as existing policies or legislation, infrastructures, and perceptions — that make it hard for e-vehicles to gain traction and acceptance. Moreover, the discussion will also touch on the possible types of e-vehicles that can be practical, accessible, or appropriate for the commuting public.
“There are obvious benefits such as less dependence on oil products, better air quality in cities, and the ability to be powered by renewable energy. But there are plenty of challenges as well like charging infrastructure, battery exchanges, local policies, and cost,” said Bill Luz, Chairman of the Liveable Cities Challenge Philippines and Chief Resilience Officer of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation.
Speakers will include Art Tan, CEO of AC Industrials and Integrated Microelectronics, Inc.; Freddie Tinga, CEO of Global Electric Transport; Manny Biona, Executive Director of Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines; Alan Pilz, Business Consultant of Transportation & Mobility Industry of Dassault Systèmes, and Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa, Executive Director of Industry Development Services of DTI Board of Investments.
“We expect another very interesting and out-of-the-box discussion from our panelists and participants,” added Luz.
