Suzuki Philippines recently unveiled the much-awaited all-new Suzuki 2022 GSX-S1000. The street sportbike that was born of race-winning, track-proven DNA and raised on the street, has morphed it into an even tighter and more striking package. With its commanding performance, confidence-inspiring controllability, rider friendliness, and striking looks, its arrival is sure to excite bike fans all over.
The first GSX-S1000 launched in 2015 brought riders the fun of sport riding on the street. It was powered by a street-tuned version of the signature Suzuki 1000cc engine that carried the GSX-R1000 to countless superbike and endurance championship titles. This engine was skilfully paired with a compact and lightweight chassis, state-of-the-art running gear, and a comfortable upright riding position that aims to give the best possible balance and overall performance. Just as the GSX-R1000 was built to “own the racetrack”, the GSX-S1000 was created to “own the street.”

Styling: Razor Sharp and Ready to Strike
The all-new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has an aggressive stance like a true street fighter exuding performance potential. It has minimalist cowling and sweeping sharp lines surrounding its hexagonal LED headlights to form the compact face of its radical new design. The sharp lines go all the way to its massive fuel tank highlighting a sense of well-sculpted athleticism and muscular strength. The design is complemented with the new rider’s seat that is designed for comfortable sport riding – offering greater support toward the rear edge, and freedom of movement. It also has a pillion seat cover that provides good grip through a hand strap for the passenger for security.
Engine: Commanding Absolute Performance
The GSX-S1000 is powered by a high-performance, 999cm3 four-stroke, DOHC liquid-cooled inline-four engine that is more than capable of delivering the exciting riding experience and ideal naked sportbike performance for today’s riding environment. The updates and refinements were aimed to deliver a smoother, more consistently powerful output, particularly through the low- to mid-range speeds which are most commonly used in daily riding.
The new compact 4-2-1 exhaust system introduces a new layout behind the collector that repositions the Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system and muffler with new catalytic converters and a revised chamber design that helps satisfy Euro 5 emissions standards. Its finely tuned fuel injection system uses 10-hole, long-nosed injectors on each throttle body to maximize loading efficiency and performance, while also contributing to lower fuel consumption. It retains the intake sound’s impressive resonance while enhancing the quality of its note. The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) provides smoother deceleration and better control when downshifting, while also realizing a lighter touch to clutch lever operation.

Control System: Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.)
The advanced electronic systems of the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) allow the rider to optimize its performance characteristics to best suit varying riding styles, levels of experience, as well as riding conditions. This makes the GSX-S1000 more controllable, more predictable, and less tiring to ride, whether for daily use or longer outings.
The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System includes:
- Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) – includes three output characteristic modes to match individual riding preferences in differing conditions such as being out for a sporty run or participating in a track day event, riding over slippery or rough roads, or just enjoying a leisurely jaunt on city streets.
- Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) – has 5 mode settings + OFF that give the rider confident control over diverse conditions reducing stress and fatigue. This new ride-by-wire electronic throttle control system is simpler, lighter, and more compact than the previous mechanical throttle.
- Bi-directional Quick Shift System – provides quicker, smoother upshifts and downshifts without operating the clutch lever. This helps prevent missed shifts, reduces fatigue, and the automatic blipping function when downshifting creates a highly satisfying experience.
- Suzuki Easy Start System – brings greater convenience and pleasure to the riding experience through just one quick press of the starter button without having to pull on any clutch lever.
- Low RPM Assist – updated to work in conjunction with SCAS and make pulling away from a standing start even smoother and easier.
Chassis: Agile and Stable
The all-new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000’s compact, lightweight chassis is engineered to provide an agile, fun-to-ride character, and deliver optimum performance in real-world riding conditions. The twin-spar aluminum frame with a straight main tube from the steering head to swingarm pivot achieves high rigidity and is lightweight for nimble handing and road-holding performance. The aluminum alloy swingarm is derived from the GSX-R1000 supersport model. The new handlebars have a 23mm wider grip and revised angle.
Boasting a performance-tuned suspension, the 2022 GSX-S1000 has fully adjustable ø43mm KYB Inverted front forks and delivers a sporty yet smooth ride. Meanwhile, the equally adjustable link-type rear suspension contributes to agility and stability. The suspension settings were thoroughly tested and tuned to best match changes to the internal structure of the tires and results in nimbler handling and improved steering into corners.
The GSX-S1000 is fitted with 6-spoke cast-aluminum wheels paired with Dunlop SPORTMAX Roadsport2 tires. Combined with the suspension settings, the tires encourage greater confidence at all speeds.
The Fuel tank was given a two-liter boost and now has a 19L capacity. It’s Antilock Brake System (ABS) matches stopping power to available traction with 4-piston, Brembo mono-block front brake calipers, and mated with ø310mm, floating-mount dual discs which promise to deliver stronger and more reliable braking performance.
Electronics: Clear Vision
The all-new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has unique, vertically-stacked LED headlights set in a hexagonal housing and topped by an LED position light, that creates a bolder, sharper new look. The bike’s LED front and rear turn signals have double-lens, LED rear combination lights that complement its stance. It comes with an informative, easy-to-read, full-LCD instrument panel that features a custom display with exclusive graphics and blue backlighting.
The all-new Suzuki GSX-S1000 is available in 3 colors: Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Matte Mechanical Gray, and Glass Sparkle Black and is priced at Php 710,000.
