After a successful brand launch at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April, JAC Philippines hosted its inaugural media event showcasing the all-new JS6 compact SUV and the all-new JS8 PRO mid-size SUV. Pampanga was the chosen destination for the leisurely drive, with a sumptuous feast waiting for us upon our arrival.
JAC is the newest brand under the wing of Astara Philippines. The brand has affordable nameplates in the distributor’s portfolio yet offers the most variety of vehicle types, such as EVs, pickups, and SUVs.

Astara Philippines marketing director Timmy de Leon and JAC Philippines brand head Tonette Lee welcomed guests to JAC’s newly-opened dealership. JAC International Managing Director of Asia-Pacific Region Jessica Ji also joined the drive.
In her welcome remarks, Lee intimated that the drive was the first of many activities JAC has for 20242024, which is set to open new dealerships and introduce seven models by the end of the year.

“As we continue to grow, we’re excited about the journey ahead. Our network has expanded to six dealerships, with more to come, ensuring that we’re closer to our customers, wherever they may be. Our lineup features models tailored to the diverse needs of our customers. Whether you’re looking for a subcompact SUV like the All-New JS2 Pro or the New JS4, a robust pickup like the New T8 Pro and the soon-to-be-launched All-New T9, or even an exciting new venture into electric vehicles with the Ytterby hatchback that will be formally introduced in September this year, we have something for everyone,” Lee said.
She added, “We believe in providing value that goes beyond the sticker price, offering a driving experience that is enriching and fulfilling. Because at JAC Motors, we know that you, your family, your dreams, and your journeys all deserve nothing but the best.”
The drive started and ended at the JAC Manila Bay dealership located on the ground floor of One Wheels Condominium, along Macapagal Avenue, in Pasay City. Wheels, Inc. owns and operates the dealership with Albern Teng as the dealer principal.

All-new JS8 PRO
The all-new JS8 PRO was our assigned vehicle for the drive to Angeles. It has 418-liter cargo space, which can go up to 2,153 liters when the third-row seats are folded down. The 7-seater midsize SUV offered more than enough space for the four adults in our group for our short drive and can haul an entire family along with their luggage for longer trips.
Aside from the basics, we appreciated its quality of life features, including its standard electric tailgate, its easy-open trunk that makes loading heavy items onto the cargo area easy and fast, and the panoramic sunroof that always makes any vehicle’s interior feel more spacious and selfie-friendly.
Other features include dual 12.3-inch digital screens—one full LCD gauge cluster and a central touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity that also deserves as the display for the 360-degree panoramic camera. Front passengers get power-adjustable seats and a wireless charging pad, while independent front and rear climate controls can adjust to every occupant’s comfort levels.
Powering the JS8 PRO is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Safety features include blind spot detection, lane change assist, and door opening warning, complementing the standard safety features of the front, side, and curtain airbags and the ISOFIX child-restraint anchors.
All-New JS8 PRO sells for P1,350,000 and is available in Pearl White, Carmenere Red, and Stylish Black.

All-new JS6
Lunch was at 1998 Lifestyle Studio, a gem hidden in plain sight in Angeles City. After our wonderful meal, we swapped vehicles and boarded the all-new JS6 compact SUV for our trip back.
Just like the JS8 PRO, it runs on a turbocharged 1.5-liter, direct-injection inline-4 gasoline engine, this time matched with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. It produces 182 hp at 5500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,800 to 3,500 rpm, and its power, responsiveness, and economy come handy in stop-and-go city traffic.
The JS6 has a 160-mm ground clearance, a 20-degree approach, and a 19-degree departure angle. Other amenities, such as its power-folding side mirrors, panoramic sunroof, and electric tailgate, add to the ease of use.
Inside, the all-new JS6 has two 12.3-inch displays that serve as the instrument panel and infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Plush leather upholstery, power front seats, wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats are some of the other amenities.
In terms of safety, the JS6 has six airbags, ISOFIX child-restraint anchors, and an Electronic Stability Program. Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features include an Automatic Emergency Brake System, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and an Intelligent Remote Light Switch.
Being JAC Motors’ most advanced and innovative model, the JS6 is slightly more expensive than the JS8P PRO with its SRP of P1,380,000, despite being only a 5-seater. It is available in five colors: Pearl White, Carmenere Red, Moonstone Blue, Stylish Black and Obsidian Grey.
The JS8 PRO and JS6 are now available at JAC dealerships and come with a 5-year warranty or 150,000 km, whichever comes first, and 24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance for the first year for further peace of mind.
