After two and a half years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Land Rover Club of the Philippines (LRCP) is finally returning to the trails to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the First Philippine Land Rover Safari 1962.

The first Philippine Land Rover Safari 1962 was a 14-day trek composed of 10 Land Rover Series IIa with a crew of 33 people. A send-off was held at Luneta Park on October 7, 1962, before the group headed to the Provincial Capitol of Rizal where the Rovers started their trek of the backwaters of Central and Northern Luzon before heading back to Manila. It was said to have been organized to prove the capabilities and limitations of the British-made cross-country vehicles favored by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

To kick off the 5-month long celebration, LRCP is holding a two-day event starting today, October 22, with festivities that flag off from Residencia Romero in San Fernando, Pampanga.

The group is expected to hit the trails and set up camp in the vicinity of the Sacobia River in Mabalacat, Pampanga, where a Basic Off Road Driving and Vehicle Recovery Course will be conducted on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Around 90 Rovers and 180 people are expected to join the activities, the proceeds of which will be used to support the club’s various CSR activities.

LRCP would like to thank the following sponsors who made the event possible: Mr. & Mrs. Renato ‘Rene’ G. Romero; ROMAC Group of Companies; Joe Bailey Guerrero;  JJ&J Industries, Inc.; Dennis Javier; Jungle Base Firing Range & 4×4 Center; HitchPro; Overland Kings; All Inclusive Sales (Blue Chem, Bendix); Keon Sondra LED Lights.
