Greenstrum and Huawei Technologies Philippines recently presented electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery storage solutions to prospective enterprise partners at their first joint business-to-business showcase.
The event, called “The New Energy Advantage,” was held at Huawei’s showroom in Bonifacio Global City. Participants included representatives from five enterprises, among them property developers and academic institutions. The session focused on how battery energy storage systems (BESS) can work with EV chargers to help businesses manage energy costs, make better use of existing electrical capacity, and prepare sites for electric mobility.
Huawei’s BESS stores electricity when demand is low and releases it when demand rises. Integrated with Greenstrum’s professionally installed chargers, the system can help charging site operators manage peak demand and improve the resilience and efficiency of their operations.
“Greenstrum and Huawei bring together expertise in implementation and the capability to do the design engineering in order to optimize the output of a battery storage system for the client,” said Carl Decleodt, Greenstrum chief operating officer. “We don’t come in just to provide hardware. What we do is we come in and provide a solution.”
Decleodt said BESS could help businesses reduce costs and establish their own EV charging stations, with equipment requiring a footprint of about two square meters.
Attendees also discussed how battery storage could support EV charging plans. Daniel Garcia, an electrical engineer at DMCI Homes, said the information was useful as the company incorporates chargers into its condominiums. He noted that differences between power demand and contracted capacity can affect charger installations, and said BESS could help address the issue.
Liezl Mico, purchasing officer at Daiichi Properties Inc., described BESS as an investment that could generate greater savings as usage increases, as charging needs evolve.
Greenstrum, ACMobility’s EV charging solutions subsidiary, and Huawei said their partnership is aimed at businesses including property developers, hospitality groups, utilities, and logistics companies with cold-storage or fleet-charging requirements.
The companies plan to hold more showcases, giving enterprises opportunities to learn about the technology and explore EV charging options for their sites.
