VinFast has launched a web-based Total Cost of Ownership Calculator on its website, giving customers a simple way to compare the long-term cost of owning an electric vehicle and a traditional internal combustion engine, or ICE, vehicle.
The tool is designed to help buyers look beyond the purchase price and see the full cost of ownership over time. It factors in monthly mileage, energy or fuel costs, financing payments, maintenance, battery ownership options, and length of ownership.
VinFast said the calculator responds to a major challenge in EV adoption by showing potential savings in clear, personalized terms. With fuel prices remaining a concern for many Filipino households, the tool aims to help car buyers make more informed financial decisions.
To use the VinFast Total Cost of Ownership Calculator, users select a vehicle model, enter their average monthly mileage, choose a battery ownership option, and set their expected ownership period. The calculator then produces estimated monthly payments, monthly energy costs, and total ownership projections within seconds.
VinFast said the tool gives buyers a clearer view of long-term savings instead of focusing only on upfront costs.
For example, a Filipino buyer choosing a VinFast VF 7 Plus with a battery subscription, driving 2,000 kilometers per month over five years, would see an estimated total cost of ownership of P1,884,890. Under the same conditions, the calculator estimates that a comparable ICE vehicle would cost P3,156,240.
That reflects a potential savings of P1,271,350, or about 40 percent.
VinFast said the calculator is meant to help customers connect those savings to real-life priorities such as family spending, business plans, and protection from fuel price changes.
The company also pointed to local and global consumer trends showing stronger interest in vehicles with lower operating costs. Rising transport expenses and fuel prices continue to shape buying decisions in the Philippines, while consumers in other markets also cite fuel savings and maintenance costs as key reasons for considering EVs.
VinFast believes that the new tool supports its goal of giving buyers more transparent ownership information. By offering a practical way to compare costs, VinFast said the calculator helps Filipino drivers evaluate EV ownership with greater confidence and clarity.
