Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) had a record-breaking Q1 having sold a total of 5,277 units, its best performance since the year 2000.

“The past year has truly been phenomenal for the brand. And we have been able to continue this performance, beating our own sales record in March, by selling 2,094 units. Our core models have also performed well in the past quarter, especially the sales of our NV350 Urvan.” said Ramesh Narasimhan, NPI president and Managing Director “The NV350 Urvan sold a total of 1,651 units, accounting for 31% of our sales for the first quarter of the year. And now, we continue to grow the business by entering a new segment, with the launch of the Nissan Urvan Premium.”

The new Nissan Urvan Premium is longer and wider, than the other variants of the NV350, and as tall as the NV350 Cargo. It features a chrome V-shaped angled strut grille, sharper headlamps, and dynamic character lines on the front and side. The modern look of the vehicle is enhanced by the elimination of the side roof drip channel, as well as the rich surface expression around the wheel opening, coupled with a longer wheelbase, and a shortened overhand.

Inside, the individually mounted seats with head rests are covered in suede-like tricot fabric. Adding a touch of class is the improved headlining fabric that comes in a gray, suede-finished material, as well as the underfoot carpeting that lines the entire cabin. Complementing these premium design touches is a two-tone dashboard that gives the impression of a wider, roomier front cabin.

Unlike the other variants which were configured to transport the maximum number of heads (butts?) per trip, the new Urvan Premium unapologetically seats twelve passengers in its rear cabin, plus three in the front. Its seat configuration, coupled with its bumped up dimensions ensure better leg room, while still having enough luggage space under the seats and near the door opening. Living up to Nissan’s legendary cooling system, this variant comes with 14 individual air conditioning vents that are positioned along each seat in the rear cabin. Other thoughtful inclusions are the extended sliding door opening height of 1,580mm for easier entry and exit, as well as a Door Closure Assist, that removes the need to exert too much effort to close the sliding passenger door. This package addresses the need for comfortable people-movers you’d actually want to travel with your family with, without breaking bank.

Powering the Nissan Urvan Premium is a high-torque 2.5-litre 4 in-line DOHC 16-valve variable turbocharged (VGS) diesel engine (YD25DDTi), the same powerplant used in the award-winning Nissan Navara pick up. Mated with a manual transmission, the powerplant produces 127 HP and 356 NM of torque. Safety features such as dual front airbags and seatbelts, load tensioning valve, anti-lock brake system, brake assist, child safety lock, and front fog lamps are standard.

Prospective buyers will be glad to know that the new Nissan Urvan Premium also comes with a 3 years or 100,000 kms warranty (whichever comes first), and is priced at PHP 1,650,000. Available in alpine white, black obsidian, and tiger eye brown, dealerships nationwide are already taking orders for deliveries that will commence by June 2017
