Since its launch in November 2023, the Hyundai Stargazer has captivated Filipinos with its unique design and highly practical cabin. It’s not often you find a cubbyhole located beneath the touchscreen, is it? Now, Hyundai has launched a new Stargazer and Stargazer X. Gone is the quirky nature of this MPV, and instead, they went for familiarity with better tech.

When talking about familiarity, it’s not just about the layout of the cabin but the exterior looks as well. The Stargazer shed its spaceship design for something more Earth-bound, which is SUV aesthetics. It now has an imposing front fascia that’s distinct from its brothers in the lineup. The Stargazer has a front grille with silver garnishes, while the Stargazer X minimized that with silver lines only for a more dominant look. The SUV silhouette continues at the rear with its more angled design. There’s still an H-pattern created from the new taillight and the full-width LED running across the tailgate.
Retained is the core of this MPV, which is the 1.5-liter engine. It pushes 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheel via Hyundai’s IVT. This goes for both the Stargazer and Stargazer X models.

Stargazer
In addition to its appearance, the Stargazer has also increased in size. It is now stretched to 4,575 mm long (+115 mm), 1,780 mm wide, and 1,695 mm tall, has a wheelbase of 2,780 mm, and has a ground clearance of 185 mm.
The Stargazer comes fitted with either halogen (GL Plus) or LED (GLS) headlights. There are electric folding side mirrors with repeaters, LED taillights, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Practicality is still the priority for the Stargazer. It still has many pockets for your belongings in all rows of the cabin. The dashboard still has the sunken section on the dash for the passenger side, with another smaller pocket above the glovebox. If you loved the removable cup holder divider beside the handbrake, you’ll be happy to know that it is still there. And so is the collapsible tray at the back of the front passenger seat and spaces for little things in the third row. They also retained the sizable bottle holders on the door panels for the second row, so you can fully rest your arm on the center armrest.
In terms of tech, the Stargazer now has a panoramic screen that houses the partly digital gauge cluster and the 8-inch touchscreen that also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s also available with cruise control, a rear camera, front airbags, ABS, stability control, and hill start assist.

Stargazer X
The Stargazer X is bigger than both its predecessor and its standard model. It measures 4,610 mm (+115 mm), is 1,820 mm wide (+5 mm), is 1,740 mm tall (+30 mm), has a wheelbase of 2,780 mm, and sits a bit lower at 190 mm of ground clearance (-10 mm). No wonder it has an imposing stance.
For the first time, the Stargazer X now comes in 2 trim levels—GLS Plus and Premium. Aside from the bold new look, the Stargazer X now has functional bridge-type roof rails. This feature means you can now utilize stronger attachments for your belongings when you go outdoors.
Inside, the Stargazer X is a bit more modern to look at. The panoramic screen has twin 10.25-inch monitors for the digital gauge and infotainment system that is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also a digital control for the aircon, with the higher Premium trim having automatic climate control.

They also have many common features between them. These include automatic LED lighting, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, a smart entry system, a push start button, the 10.25-inch screens, a wireless charger, a total of 4 USB charging ports, and leather upholstery, among others.
The Stargazer X still comes with front, side, and curtain airbags; front and rear sensors; stability control; hill start assist; a tire pressure monitoring system; and rear occupant alert. The Premium gets the additional Hyundai Smartsense package that includes Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist.
The new Hyundai Stargazer starts at P1,118,000 for the GL Plus and P1,228,000 for the GLS. The more dominant-looking Stargazer X begins at P1,318,000 for the GLS Plus, while the top-spec Premium trim will cost you P1,378,000.
