What Nissan didn’t unveil at the Manila International Auto Show

If you were at the MIAS last weekend and was waiting for the cloaked vehicle in the Top Gear booth to be unveiled, well the Juke’s on you! (Yeah, pun intended)  Nissan Philippines really had no intention of unveiling its newest offering ahead of its scheduled public debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this month.

Just in case you still don’t know yet, hidden under the silver cloth was the all-new Nissan Terra, the brand’s mid-sized, platform-based SUV. As per the official schedule, China gets first dibs on the 7-seater SUV, with the other Asian markets, including ours, following soon after.

The all-new Terra will be the first vehicle from Nissan’s frame and LCV division to launch under the company’s mid-term plan called Nissan M.O.V.E to 2022. This puts a lot of pressure on the said business unit as some of its objectives under the plan include increasing sales by more than 40% by 2022 and becoming a global leader in pickups and frame-based SUVs. This stems from the steady growth of Nissan’s frame and LCV business, and the fact that one in every six Nissan vehicles sold globally is either frame-based or an LCV.

We’re really curious how the Terra will affect the highly competitive (and crowded) mid-size SUV market. Would you be interested to get one?

In the meantime, here are some photos to whet your appetites.
