realme 10 Pro 5G Unboxing

Tech brand realme is launching its #realme10proseries5g phones in a few days, and here’s our initial impression of the realme 10 Pro 5G demo unit sent to us for testing.

Look and feel

The realme 10 Pro 5G has a clean form factor with squared-off edges. Its punch-hole front camera is center-weighted at the top, while its large rear cameras which are mounted directly to the phone’s back panel protrude from the upper left corner. Unlike the previous-gen realme Number Series designs, this phone doesn’t have that raised rectangular plate that frames the camera array.

The realme 10 Pro 5G will be available locally in 3 colors: Hyperspace Gold (hero color), the subdued Dark Matter (black), and the very youthful Nebula Blue. While the blue variant is a bit too bright for this writer’s (ahem) more mature taste, its matte-ish finish is kind to oily hands and doesn’t leave visible fingerprints. The phone’s noticeably thin bezels around the display give it an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 93.76%.

Out of the box

Straight out of the box, the realme 10 Pro 5G already has Android 13 installed but understandably, you will still be asked to download the latest incremental updates available at the time of purchase. As with other Android devices, one has to be mindful when setting up new phones to minimize bloatware as clicking yes to all suggested apps can quickly deplete storage space.

Basic specs

while the demo unit made available had less storage capacity than the units that are going to be available locally (8GB+128GB demo unit vs 8GB+256GB retail units) no problems were encountered while testing out the phone.

The realme 10 Pro 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G Processor, a 6nm Octa-Core Processor with x2 Cortex-A78 Cores that clock at up to 2.2 GHz, and x6 Cortex-A55 Cores that clock up to 1.8GHz. As its name suggests, it has 5G connectivity and it also boasts a Triple ISP with a Qualcomm Spectra 346T that is designated for concurrent multi-camera photo and video captures.

It comes with 8GB RAM that can expand up to 16GB when utilizing the built-in Dynamic RAM Expansion feature that can add 4, 6, or 8 additional gigabytes taken from unused storage space. It is fitted with a 5000mAh Battery with 33W SUPERVOOC Charge that charges the devices completely in a little over an hour.

It is equipped with a 120Hz Boundless Display and makes use of Double-Reinforced Glass for added durability.

Imaging

While the main focus of the phone is its display, the rm10p5G is still equipped with a 108MP ProLight Camera that is said to capture 108 Million pixels at its highest setting. Its Nonapixel Plus Technology allows pixel binning or the combining of 9 pixels into one for improved low-light captures. It also comes with an enhanced realme UI’s ProLight Imaging Technology with a new feature called HyperShot Imaging Architecture that optimizes the production of images taken in three sectors: faster image processing, providing clarity of photos taken, and nighttime shots. It also now utilizes Street Photography Mode 3.0 and new camera features such as One Shot, Super Group Portrait, and AI Video Tracking which can determine the main subject when taking videos. Its 108MP ProLight Camera also allows for capturing high-resolution shots that retain their clarity even after being zoomed in three times.
