Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the local distributor of Geely in the Philippines, finally held today the digital media launch of their next-generation premium compact SUV, the all-new Geely Azkarra.
The Azkarra is a Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) and is the brand’s attempt at bringing the technology to the mainstream.
“Hybrid and electric vehicle technology is becoming increasingly popular in the auto industry. This is where the future is heading. (The year) 2020 is definitely going to be a landmark year for Geely in the Philippine automotive market as it steps up its game, with the introduction of the MHEV,” said SGAP President & CEO Mikihisa Takayama

Variants
The all-new Azkarra is available in two variants: The Premium 4×2 front-wheel-drive variant with 6-speed AT transmission; and the Luxury 4×4 Luxury variant with the 48V Electric Motor Synergy (EMS) system that is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. While both variants of the Azcarra are powered by the same 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine that powers the Coolray, the Premium variant that promises 177hp @ 5,500rpm and maximum torque of 255Nm @1,500-4,000rpm, while the Luxury variants outs 190hp @ 5,500rpm and 300Nm of torque @ 1,500-4,000rpm.
Both variants come with premium styling and a host of creature comforts and safety features that benefit both the driver and the passengers. As with other Geely vehicles, the Azkarra is now fitted with CN95 filters that are designed to effectively filter out dust, harmful gases, particulate matter (PM) 2.5 particles, droplets with diameters larger than .74 microns which are often attached to coronaviruses.
“The introduction of Geely vehicles with higher efficiency cabin filtration system is just very relevant amid the pandemic that the world is battling against. We want to give our valued customers a better quality of life by producing healthier products. This could give more security to our consumers as we slowly drive our way and adjust to the ‘new normal’ after the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” said Takayama.

Availability
The Azkarra comes with a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer (whichever comes first) warranty, and is priced as follows:
- Php 1,438,000 – 2WD 6-speed AT Premium variant
- P1,598,000 – 4WD 7-speed wet dual-clutch, 48V EMS Luxury variant
