The Honda Civic RS Turbo CVT and the Isuzu D-MAX 3.0L 4×2 LS AT took the top honors at the awards night of the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI)‘s Car of the Year – Philippines awards held at the One Rockwell East Tower in Makati City.

After numerous man-hours spent on planning and coordination, 3 days of testing in NUVALI, hundreds of instrumented test runs, and over a thousand qualitative test drives — with all data tabulated by respected firm KPMG R.G. Manabat & Co. — CAGI has come up with the definitive list of the best new and significantly upgraded vehicles in the market today.

The 1.5-liter Honda Civic RS Turbo CVT bested the field of 65 vehicles that were submitted for testing this season. Although the trucks segment only had a field of 7 entries, the competition was no less stiffer, with the the Isuzu D-MAX 3.0L 4×2 LS AT taking the top spot.

The 2016 Car of the Year Awards is co-presented by Carmudi.com.ph and was made possible by partner KPMG R.G. Manabat & Co. Other sponsors include Ayala Land Premier; NUVALI; Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation; Motolite Batteries; El Cielito Hotel – Sta. Rosa; Manila International Auto Show; Worldbex International; and Speedlab. Official media partners include BusinessMirror, BusinessWorld, Malaya Business Insight, Manila Bulletin, Philippine Daily Inquirer, The Manila Times, The Philippine Star, Auto Review, Turbo Zone, and JamesDeakin.ph. Special thanks to DIAGEO for being the bar host for the awards night.
