Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has formalized its after-sales support for the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) existing fleet of Hyundai-badged patrol cars. The fleet, composed of 81 Grand Starex and 49 Elantra units, was turned over in March 2018 by the Republic of Korea (ROK), through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), to the country’s principal police force as the initial phase of the donation. For the second phase, KOICA, through KNPA, has committed financial aid to the PNP which covers USD 245,000 worth of preventive maintenance and related services as well as USD 145,000 worth of Hyundai Genuine parts, components, and materials. The agreement, which covers two years, shall be fulfilled and carried out through the HMPH’s nationwide network of authorized dealers and service centers.

“At Hyundai Motor, we strive to provide freedom of mobility by going beyond our role as an automotive sales company. This guiding principle comes from our strong commitment to giving back to society because we exist to do the right thing for humanity. So, we are very honored to be assisting and providing our modern-day heroes with quality aftersales that will help them carry out their daily duties easily and safely,”  said Dong Wook Lee, President of HMPH. “PNP’s fleet of Hyundai patrol vehicles will be kept at the highest level of operational reliability and roadworthiness thanks to the expert care of our certified technicians and after-sales personnel. Not only that, they can be assured that every time, only the latest diagnostics equipment and genuine compatible parts will be used.”

Also present at the January 11 meeting at Camp Crame was Police Major General (PMGEN) Ronaldo Olay, PNP’s Director for Logistics. “Again, to our proponents from KOICA and HMPH as well as to our counterparts from KNPA, thank you very much. The preventive maintenance service will ensure that our 130 vehicles’ life span will be prolonged. As the life of human beings is important, similarly, the vehicle’s life and condition are also important. This is in line with the CPNP’s peace and security framework entitled MKK=K which stands for Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapan, and Kaunlaran. Today falls under Malasakit, which can be aligned and dubbed as ‘Malasakit para sa Kagamitan nang Kapulisan’ which will help save resources of the government in general,” he said.
