Shell Pilipinas has continued to uphold its legacy in the Philippines as a partner in the country’s progress for over a century. More than a fuel provider, the company has taken an active role in energizing Filipino lives for 110 years through innovative products and services, good governance, and relevant social development programs. Throughout the year, the company will be celebrating the milestone with various activities that affirm Shell’s commitment to being Filipinos’ “Kasabay sa Pagsulong” (Moving forward, together).

Shell kicked off its 110-milestone year with a gathering of the company’s current and former leaders, highlighting how Shell has been and always will be committed to powering progress in the Philippines. From its humble beginnings in 1914 to its present-day leadership in the energy industry, the company has been driven by a spirit of innovation and a deep-rooted commitment to empowering Filipino lives.

“For and beyond our 110th, we’ll continue to uphold our purpose, which is to provide energy that empowers Filipinos,” said Shell companies in the Philippines Country Chair Lorelie Quiambao-Osial.

“Kasabay mo sa Pagsulong” signifies Shell’s commitment to partner with the Filipino people for the next 100 years. Its 10-year story in the Philippines is one of constant evolution, unwavering support, and a deep-rooted belief in the nation’s potential. Here’s a timeline:

  • 1914: Planting the Seeds of Partnership
Shell arrives in the Philippines, laying the foundation for a century-long partnership to enable the nation’s progress.
  • 1920s: Fueling Development, Powering Industries
Shell added new distribution points, ushering in a new era of connectedness, productivity, and mobility.
  • 1940s: Standing Steadfast, Unwavering Support
Through World War II, Shell fueled the nation’s resilience, demonstrating its steadfast commitment despite adversity.
  • 1950s-1960s: Expanding Footprint, Elevating Lives
Shell expands its presence, establishing refineries and introducing more products to enable unparalleled mobility.
  • 1970s-1980s: Moving the Filipinos Forward
Shell established the Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., propelled by its vision of uplifting communities and individuals.
  • 1990s-2000s: Embracing Change, Empowering Mobility
Shell embraces its role in enabling mobility and enriching everyday journeys by providing innovative and convenient products and services.
  • 2010s-Present: Building a Brighter Future, Together
As the energy transition unfolded, Shell established the Shell Energy business and continues to embrace innovation with mobility initiatives like Site of the Future, carbon offsetting, and Shell Recharge, demonstrating its commitment to adapt and lead the way towards a sustainable future.

Country Head Quiambao-Osial also emphasizes the importance of recognizing and building upon the foundation laid by past generations: “As we celebrate our 110th year, we honor those who paved the way and continue to be ambassadors of Shell’s values, driving progress and innovation in the years to come.“
