After many delays caused by the pandemic, Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) has finally launched the much-awaited new Nissan Terra. Tougher, more versatile, and more sophisticated, Nissan’s popular seven-seater SUV has been upgraded with many premium and advanced features, inspiring more shared experiences and adventures with loved ones.
Starting at Php 1.649M, Nissan Philippines dropped one variant and streamlined the selection into the 4 most popular trims: VL 4×4 and 4×2 AT, VE 4×2 AT, and EL 4×2 MT.

Exterior
The exterior of the new Terra features Nissan’s “unbreakable design language“, which gives the mid-size SUV a look that is tough, modern, techy, and elegant. Despite retaining its overall silhouette, the upgrades of this refresh are far from subtle.
The most significant change in the exterior of the new Terra can be found in front: the fascia features a new, more imposing, chrome V-motion grille with the redesigned front bumper. Similar to the new Navarra, the new Terra now sports the auto-leveling quad-LED projector headlamps with unique C-shaped LED signature DRLs (daytime running lamps) that don’t only look good but also serve their purpose well. The rear of the vehicle emphasizes its strength and width with new tail lamps, wide LED signatures, a redesigned rear bumper, a new chrome center finisher, as well as the updated spoiler design and sharkfin antenna.
Another highly noticeable upgrade is the new 18-inch two-tone alloy wheel design. This goes along well with the improved maneuverability with the Quick Steering Gear Ratio that is standard across all variants. The top-of-the-line VL 4×4 variant is equipped with a part-time 4WD (2H/4H/4L) Shift-on-the-fly system, an Electronic Locking Rear Differential, and 4-Wheel Disc Brakes.

Interior
The improvements to the interior are quite significant, too. Hard to miss is the VL-tier’s soft-to-touch burgundy leather inserts that cover the upper part of the dash, as well as the doors. The dashboard has been updated into a sleeker, more modern layout and design, with a new instrument panel, a new D-shaped steering wheel, a new center console design with integrated Wireless Charging and e-Parking Brake, and a new high contrast 7″ Advanced Drive Assist Display. Designed for the whole family to enjoy, the new Nissan Terra’s entertainment elements were also enhanced, and now features a Nissan 9″ Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio with Android Auto and Wireless Apple Carplay (for VL variants), 11″ Flip-down Rear Monitor, and an 8- speaker BOSE Premium Sound System for the VL 4×4 variant. Also noticeable is the improved NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) inside the cabin which is due to material and structural improvements. These quality-of-life improvements elevate the overall Terra experience, whether as the driver or a passenger.

Smart
When the Terra was first launched, one of its key characteristics was it’s being smart — and the new Terra is smarter than ever. The new Terra is packed with more Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) features than the previous model. These features include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert while carrying over the Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Rear View Mirror features from the previous model. The Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection now comes with an Off-road Monitor for the VL 4×4 variant. The new Terra also comes with the segment-first Intelligent Driver Alertness that senses cues from the driver and gives alerts to the driver if a break from the wheel is needed.
The suite of NIM features combined with the other safety features is collectively known as the 360 Safety Shield, a 360-degree safety system that helps protect both the driver and passengers from potential risks approaching the vehicle.
