BYD Cars Philippines has announced a period of extraordinary growth, posting a staggering 99% year-on-year sales increase by August 2026. The brand’s robust performance has already propelled its January-to-August sales total to 28,399 units, surpassing its full-year 2025 sales of 26,122 units a full four months ahead of schedule.
This eight-month tally also places BYD in third position in the overall Philippine automotive market based on combined CAMPI and PADA figures for January to August 2026. Only Toyota Motor Philippines, with 118,706 units, and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, with 42,592 units, sold more vehicles during the period, making BYD the highest-ranked brand focused exclusively on new energy vehicles.
August 2026 alone saw BYD sell 4,682 units, underscoring the brand’s sustained momentum throughout the year. This includes a record-setting April 2026, where BYD Cars Philippines achieved its highest-ever monthly sales figure of 5,730 units, marking a 258% increase from April 2025. These results collectively demonstrate a broadening demand for BYD’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) across the country.
A significant driver of this growth is BYD’s advanced plug-in hybrid (DM-i) technology. From January to August 2026, DM-i vehicle sales surged by 95% year-on-year, reaching 22,555 units compared to 11,542 units in the same period last year. The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i has emerged as the brand’s best-selling model overall, accounting for 7,759 units and 27% of total company sales. The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i also made a strong contribution with 2,512 units sold year-to-date.
BYD’s fully electric vehicle (BEV) lineup has also experienced triple-digit expansion. BEV sales reached 5,844 units from January to August 2026, an impressive 115% increase from the 2,720 units sold in the corresponding period of 2025. The BYD eMAX 7 leads this segment as the top-selling BEV, with 1,975 units sold, representing 34% of the brand’s total BEV sales for the period.
“The market’s response to our best-selling models, like the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, the eMAX 9 DM-i and the eMAX 7 BEV, and our achievement of crossing our full-year 2025 sales is proof that electric vehicles have entered the mainstream in the Philippines,” stated Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Filipino consumers are choosing BYD because our vehicles deliver what matters most: innovation, practicality, reliability, and lower ownership costs without compromise. As electric mobility continues to accelerate across the country, BYD is proud to lead the shift, and we remain committed to bring more world-class electric and plug-in hybrid technologies to Filipino drivers.“

This robust local performance mirrors BYD’s global success, which saw the brand record 440,293 worldwide NEV sales in August 2026. The growth trajectory in the Philippines is further supported by the continuous expansion of BYD’s dealership network, now encompassing 81 dealerships nationwide, enhancing sales and after-sales support for customers across various cities and provinces.
BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, is dedicated to spearheading the transition to new energy vehicles in the country, offering a growing portfolio of electrified passenger vehicles to Filipino consumers.
